A Search for Great Vegan Food in San Diego

Eco Nuts Laundry Soap

Cleaning clothes with a berry? It turns out that it’s not as weird as it might sound! One of the most interesting companies I discovered during my visit to the Natural Food Expo visit was Eco Nuts, a company that makes a variety of natural laundry and cleaning products.  At the Expo, I became particularly fascinated by the Eco Nuts Organic Laundry Soap.

What Is Eco Nuts Laundry Soap?

The Laundry Soap is made up of soap nuts — berries that grow on trees in the Himalayas and contain a natural soap in their shells called, saponin. Soap nuts are all wild harvested – they are taken from trees that are not treated with chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides. In fact, pesticides are not necessary, because the soap in the berry acts as a natural bug repellent!  So it’s no surprise that the Laundry Soap is also certified organic!  After gathering the berries, Eco Nuts de-seeds and sterilizes them.  For more information on the laundry soap click here!

How Do I Use Soap Nuts?

Eco Nuts’ Laundry Soap is a mild and gentle alternative to detergent. It is an especially good match for those who have sensitive skin or who are looking for a chemical-free way to wash their clothes!  To use, put 5 soap nuts in the provided bag. Tie the bag, and throw it in with your laundry and wash! So simple. A group of 5 soap nuts washes 10 loads of laundry!

Eco Nuts’ Laundry Soap is an awesome product.  I spend a lot of time and energy making sure I eat a plant-based diet that is free from pesticides.  Now I feel better knowing that my skin won’t be absorbing chemicals from my clothes!  For more information on Eco Nuts, check out their website or their FAQ page!
